| | My name is Colin Andre, and Photography is my Passion. Ever since my teenage years, I have held an interest in what the eye sees, as interpreted by the photographer, and captured by the camera. A simple everyday object, as seen from an unusual or a different perspective, and shared with others. And so… my affair begins In my teens, in the 1980's , I was given my first film camera, the Kodak Tele-Ektra 100. It introduced me to viewing the world, in a very different manner...being that age, money to develop film was a perpetual problem, and so the attraction began to wane. Fast Forward almost 10 years to 1989. Batman the Movie was big in theatres, Prince still had a name, and young people “dressed up” to go to night clubs. My interest was again rekindled in my early 20s before embarking on a Caribbean vacation with a Canon Snappy EZ. This, my first 35mm camera was only a point and shoot, I did not have much control, but could take some good photos. As time went on, and the age of Digital Cameras began, so did my interest in the technology. Which brings this little story to July of 2002. For 3 months prior, I relentlessly pursued that White Whale; the Minolta DiMage 7i. Being new on the market and barely available in my locale, this latest version solved many major shortcomings of it’s predecessors. With full automatic or manual function, 7X optical zoom, 5 Megapixel, and more buttons and knobs than you can shake a stick at. I wanted the DiMage 7i. With great joy, I finally purchased and took home this camera. This new chapter began, and opened a whole new book on the world of photography. The coming together of my ideas, and a good creative tool, I can finally show, and let others see, in a small part, how I see and interpret some of the beauty around us. Since 2002, my passions and desire to improve my craft have led me to upgrade to a Digital SLR, to learn my craft and continue being a Passionate Photography Enthusiast. |
